外企英语培训学员英语短文选：《“Dabao” or “to take out”》

Yesterday I read a story on newspaper when on the way to my company. It was about a language mis-communication at a school cafeteria and was quite interesting.

The story goes:

It was lunch time and I went to the school cafeteria staying on line next to a foreign student.

When it was his turn to be served, the student said:"I want dabao".

While the service lady confirmed with the student:"you want double packs of meal" ,

she was preparing the meal for him. But the student shook his head badly and said "no,no, I want dabao".

The service lady was puzzled and didn’t know what he wanted, and me neither.

At that moment, the foreign student pointed to the plastic bags on table for taking-out orders and said: "I want 'dabao', I want to take my lunch out". 

Only then had the service lady understood, and had I too.
